Nee, steeds vaker komt het voor dat er helemaal niet wordt gebeld door uw kinderen, om de doodeenvoudige reden dat zij het prima naar hun zin hebben. Dan maar zelf de telefoon pakken om toch tenminste te weten wat er zoal speelt in het leven van uw kind. Een dergelijk telefoongesprek gaat meestal als volgt: hallo Hans, met mama, hoe is het- ja goed, hoezo- ja, je vader en ik willen gewoon weten hoe alles reilt en zeilt- nou alles reilt en zeilt prima-ja, nou mooi, hoe is het met je studie, ja prima, alles op schema-ok, en dat nieuwe bijbaantje dan- ja, prima, leuke collega’s- alles goed tussen jou en jouw vriendin-ja, hoezo- nee, gewoon; ik vraag het uit belangstelling- niets bijzonders te melden-wanneer kom je weer eens naar huis-kan ik nog niet zeggen; gewoon te druk met alles-ok, nog iets anders te vertellen-nee, ik moet nu door want ik heb een afspraak in de sportschool-ok, dag lieverd- ja, dag. Geen relatieprobleem, geen studieprobleem, geen geldprobleem, geen gezondheidsprobleem, gewoon geen enkel probleem; en dus ook geen reden om de ouders in te schakelen. Nee, het echte probleem is dat de ouders iets van zorg en aandacht kwijt willen, waar de kinderen geen behoefte meer aan hebben.
Het wachten is daarom op het moment dat uw kinderen zelf kinderen hebben. Dan zullen uw kinderen u als (groot)ouders zeker nodig hebben, al was het alleen maar om een lang weekend even kindervrij te zijn.
